Italia

Sunday
MAY 23

Okay, this is not the original, but I
thought this was a great view, as I'm sure
many of you would agree. This was taken
at the Piazza Michelangelo. But we did
see the original, and we both got goose
bumps. I got off one shot before the
attendant made me put away my camera.
 Damn!!

This is another Firenzian Story. This is
Mario, who basically spoke no English, but
took us under his wing and gave us an
entire tour of the main area of downtown,
all in Italian. Whew, the sheer energy it
took to keep up was staggering. So far he
is the dude of the trip!!!

Here is the view from the Piazza Michelangelo!!

This is the real thing.

These are a couple of great stories. As we
hiked up to the Piazza Michelangelo, we were
serenaded all the way up by Martino. (and let
me tell you it's a good 25 minutes of walking up
paths on the side of a mountain)  He had a
tape in his player that was at full volume
playing a medley of Italian semi opera which he
accompanied in a surprisingly good, strong
voice. The reason? "Singing to the music made
the trip up easier!!!" he said.

Monday - May 24

Pisa

This is called The Field of Miracles.
The only reason they call it that is
because it's a miracle that all of the
buildings don't fall down. Every one of
them leans

What else would you expect???

This is the bell in the tower
that almost killed Deb. It rang
while she was standing next to
it, and it scared her so bad,
her knees buckled. This is the
shot she took from the ground
as she couldn't stand for a
few moments.

This is the view
from one of
Lucca's bell
towers.

I had to lay on the
floor to get this
shot. I tried to do it
while standing, and I
almost fell over.

Deb gets into everything!!!
Even if is a 5th Century
Roman Bath!!!

Lucca's town square is round!!!

Tasting Tour

These are our taste buddies.
Laurie & Mike MacDonald.
We had a great time. I don't
think Laurie will ever look at
Tripe the same way again!!
And Mike has now decided
that all Californians are a
little crazy.

Here's Jennifer,
above!! She was a
great hostess

The first stop of the day was
for perfume Lorenzo
Villores. Yes, we went to his
home and sprayed away.
Here I am perched in his
chair at his desk. Check out
the essence bottles. Emeril
has nothing on him!!!

to a great and confusing city. We did coffee,
chocolate, truffles, champagne, kitchen supplies,
Tripe sandwiches, cheeses, basalmics oils, wine,
grapa and then tuscan lunch. We had to lay down
immediately after that!!!

Paola took care of all our picnic
needs. She was truly a darling.
